CONTEST INFORMATION
Date. May 11, 2019
Location. Paris Skeet & Trap Club – Paris, TX; 4630 FM 79, Paris, TX 75460. View District IV 4-H Shooting Sports Match Locations map.
Schedule. Check-in is from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. for all shotgun shooters. A mandatory safety orientation will begin at 8:30 for all shooters and shooting will start immediately following.
Registration. Each competing member is required to register on 4-H Connect and pay the applicable registration fees. Members may select from the following options below. Registration will open on March 19 and close at midnight April 18, 2019 and limited to the first 75 members to register on Connect. No exceptions will be made nor will late entries be accepted. When 4-H Connect reaches 75, it will lock out all other entries. If you do not see it as a registration option on Connect, it means that the event is sold out.
Registration Options:
Each member must complete and submit the following form at check-in: Shotgun – Waiver, Indemnification, and Medical Treatment Authorization Form
Participation. Contestants must be active 4-H members enrolled in a Texas 4-H and Youth Development county program in District IV. Contestants must also be academically eligible (according to UIL rules) to compete on the day of the contest.
Novice competitors are welcome, but all shooters must be actively involved in a county 4-H shooting sports program prior to competing. Shooters must have received instruction/training on safe firearm handling, safety protocols, and general rules of play from a certified 4-H shooting sports coach.
Age. Age divisions are determined by a participant’s grade as of September 1 of the current 4-H year. Age divisions for this contest are:
Entries per county. Each county may enter unlimited individuals per age division listed above, unless the maximum number of shooters has been reached.
Squads. Counties need to email requested squads to Cherrie Curtis by entry deadline. County squads will be formed by contest officials and posted at the contest. Individuals will be grouped by county and age divisions as best as possible.
Awards. 1st through 5th place individual awards in each age category will be presented. High point in each division will also be awarded. In order to be eligible for High Overall (HOA), the shooter must shoot in both events (trap and skeet). Team awards may also be presented.
Participants with disabilities. If you need any type of accommodation to participate in this program or have questions about the physical access provided, please the district office at 972-231-5362 at least 2 weeks prior to the program or note such needs when registering on 4-H Connect.
Course of Fire.
Equipment. Shotguns 12-gauge and smaller must be used. Shot size 7 ½ or smaller required (e.g., 8, 9).
Safety. There will be safety officers on the range. Their instructions must be followed. Youth NOT shooting must be kept away from shooters and the ranges. Each squad will be expected to identify and provide one adult safety observer (does not have to be a certified coach) for each round. The safety observer will be responsible for helping maintain a safe shooting environment on the range.
Disorderly, unsafe or abusive conduct has no place on the Shooting Sports Range and will not be permitted. Individuals who exhibit such conduct may be immediately disqualification and/or dismissed from the grounds. The match director, 4-H Specialist, and/or District Extension Administrator will have final say in all disputes.
