Schedule.
Registration. Each participating member is required to register on 4-H Connect (https://texas.4honline.com) and pay the $10.00 registration fee. Registration will open on March 12 and close at midnight April 12, 2019. Paperwork is due at the time of registration (see Paperwork Requirements section below).
Participation. Contestants must be active 4-H members enrolled in a Texas 4-H and Youth Development county program in District IV. Contestants must also be academically eligible (according to UIL rules) to compete on the day of the contest.
Age. Age divisions are determined by a participant’s grade as of September 1 of the current 4-H year. Age divisions for this contest are:
Entries per county. Each county may enter one individual per age division per category. The first-placed senior individual in each category will qualify for state.
Awards. 1st through 5th place individual awards in each age category will be presented.

JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE BUYING CATEGORIES |

Fantastic Fashion under $25 | This category is designed to expand the 4-H member’s shopping experience to include different shopping venues. Outfits must be purchased at a garage sale, consignment store, Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other retail business. Receipts are required for everything that is visible during the interview, except shoes. Receipts for garage sales can be handwritten. This includes jewelry and accessories. Special Interest | Limited to special purpose garments. Business/Interview Attire | Entry should be an outfit you would wear for a job interview, scholarship interview, job fair, or other professional event. 1. Professional – This is a more traditional, conservative approach (e.g., business suit or blazer, tie and dress slacks for men; business suit, pantsuit, or jacket and dress for women) and may vary by employer or industry. 2. Business Casual – This is more relaxed and comfortable but demonstrates good judgment in choices and displays a neat appearance (e.g., polo shirt, shirt with a collar or sweater; khakis or other slacks; dress or casual leather shoes for men and women; moderate length dress or skirt for women). | Form (PDF) |
Semi-formal to Formal | Entry must be designed for semi-formal to formal occasions and made from fabrics intended for the same. This includes men’s suits and tuxedos and women’s dressy dresses, formal gowns, wedding dresses, and bridesmaid dresses. | Form (PDF) |

Re-Fashion | The result of modifying existing clothing into something more fashionable. The main purpose of ReFashion is creativity, as well as sewing skills. The member designs and sews a wearable garment from previously used garments. The completed garment is different from its original use, not just an alteration. SENIOR NATURAL FIBERS |

The purpose of the Fashion Show Natural Fiber Contest is an opportunity for 4-H members to exhibit the skills learned related to Cotton and Wool/Mohair. To recognize 4-H members who do outstanding work in a clothing project that includes the study of cotton or wool, and mohair. | FORM (PDF) |
Paperwork Requirements. Fashion Show forms must be scanned and uploaded on 4-H Connect by the registration deadline. If you do not have access to a scanner, please visit with your County Extension office for assistance. The County Extension Agent (CEA) signature on the form is not required for district. Approval of 4-H Connect registration will constitute CEA approval of the member’s forms. Contestants who do not upload the required, correct, and complete forms on 4-H Connect at the time of entry will be disqualified.
Confirmed Judges and Helpers. Submission of the Judges Information Sheet is a mandatory requirement from each county. The form is due April 12, 2019. Each county should submit these forms providing the names, addresses, e-mail addresses and phone numbers of two qualified people who have agreed to volunteer for this event. judge-form

ADDITIONAL DISTRICT RULES
A participant receives a penalty of 5 or more points for not following all Fashion Show requirements, which includes not completing all forms or illegible or incorrect forms.
If ties should occur, the ties will be broken using the state tie-breaking rules.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Parents will not be allowed in the holding or judging areas during the judging process. An area will be available for parents to wait.
Counties may enter one entry from each of the three age groups in each category of each division.
The only entry forms that are acceptable are those found on this page. DO NOT reformat any of the Word or Adobe Documents to accommodate the amount of information you want to place on your entry.
