CONTEST INFORMATION

Tentative Schedule.   Times are subject to change, dependent upon registrations.

Registration.  Each participating member is required to register on 4-H Connect and pay the district $10.00 contest registration fee.  Registration will open on March 6 and close at midnight April 10, 2020.

If the county has multiple team entries, please denote team names on 4-H Connect using this naming structure:

<County> Jr/Int Team #1                                         <County> Sr Team #1

<County> Jr/Int Team #2                                         <County> Sr Team #2

<County> Jr/Int Team #3                                         <County> Sr Team #3

Please no unique team names.

Participation. Contestants must be active 4-H members enrolled in a Texas 4-H and Youth Development county program in District IV.  Contestants must also be academically eligible (according to UIL rules) to compete on the day of the contest.

Age.There will be two age divisions at District:  Junior/Intermediate and Senior.  Junior and Intermediate aged youth are combined into one age division.  Age divisions are determined by a participant’s grade as of September 1 of the current 4-H year.  Age divisions for this contest are:

Junior/Intermediate grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Teams  HAVE to be 4 members
Senior grades 9, 10, 11, 12 Teams HAVE to be 4 members

Entries per county. There is no limit to the number of teams a county may enter.  The first, second and third place senior teams will qualify for Texas 4-H Roundup.

Members per team.  Teams HAVE TO consist of 4 members.  

Awards. 1st – 5th place team and  (new this year) 1st-5th place individual awards in each age division will be presented at the conclusion of the contest.  The top 3 placed senior teams will qualify for state.

Participants with disabilities.  If you need any type of accommodation to participate in this program or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact Denita Young at 972-952-9264 at least 2 weeks prior to the program or note such needs when registering on 4-H Connect.

Contest Rules.  District IV follows the rules set forth in the Texas 4-H Quiz Bowl Guide (linked below).THERE IS A NEW SET OF RULES PUBLISHED, REVIEW THE RULES.   The link is provided below.  For all age divisions, this is a double-elimination tournament.  

No cell phone, smart watches or other electronic devices are allowed in the contest rooms. No scribing, note-taking, score-keeping or recording of questions/answers or individual performance is permitted by coaches or competitors.   Teams found in violation will be disqualified.
