CONTEST INFORMATION

SPECIAL NOTE:  This photography contest has NO bearing on senior members qualifying for the state photography contest.  Members must qualify at the county level.  As such, this district contest is a standalone event and should not be confused with county or state contests.  Please consult your County Extension office for qualifying procedures within your county.

Schedule

• 4-H Connect registration opens January 1, 2021
• 4-H Connect registration closes 11:59, February 1, 2021
• Photos are due to the District office Or Morris County Extension Office by 4 PM, February 12, 2021

Registration.  Each participating member is required to register on 4-H Connect and pay the district contest registration fee.  When registering on 4-H Connect, you will be assessed a $10.00 fee when you select your first entry.  Subsequent entries are an additional $0.50 per photo.

Participation.  Participants must be active 4-H members enrolled in a Texas 4-H and Youth Development county program in District IV.

Age.  Age divisions are determined by a participant’s grade as of September 1 of the current 4-H year.  Age divisions for this contest are:

Photo Categories  –  It is extremely important that 4-H members, project leaders, parents, and County Extension Agents review the descriptions of each category very carefully. Do not enter photographs into categories that are duplicates from other categories or ones that do not clearly meet the category description. Photographs that do not meet the description of the category will be disqualified.

Awards and Recognition

                 1.Quality Awards: Blue, Red, and White quality ribbons will be given based on the scoring values.
                 2.Best of class Awards: One (1) Best of class Rosette will be awarded to one photo in each category. Judges have                                                                      to option to award a Honorable mention Rosette in each class also.
                 3.Best of age division: One (1) Rosette will be given to the overall all winner from each age division.

Judging and Results. Each photograph will be judged against a set of judging criteria, and not against photographs of peers. Based on total points awarded for each photograph, the participant will be awarded either a blue, red, or white ribbon. See Contest Judging Criteria. Judges will determine the placings and all decisions are final. Results will be available at your County Extension Office.

Eligibility of Photos Photo must be taken by participants between the dates of January 1, 2020 and the time of entry. Photos may be submitted only one time and in only one category.

Number of Entries.  Each member may enter one photo per category for a maximum of 15 photos.  There are no limits on how many photos a county can enter.

Entry Process.  All photos must be received in the District Office or the Morris County Extension office by the dates/times posted above in the Schedule section.  Please click this link( Photography Contest )to read the submission rules and guidelines carefully to avoid disqualification of entries.

Formatting the Photograph.  All Photographs will be 8” X 10” and must be dry mounted to a matting board    or corrugated cardboard

Labeling the Photograph.  Cut along the lines and securely affix a form to the back/center of each photo. Please print legibly, and make sure all check boxes are clearly marked. Duplicate this form as necessary. Agents, please double-check the age divisions and categories to make sure they match what has been entered on 4-H Connect. You must use this label
